Calling all A2 Media students - please read below
Dear A2 Media student
As the exams are fast approaching (not that I want to panic
you about this….) I thought it would be useful to let you know what support is
available to you as you wade through your revision.
Weekly lunchtime workshops
The media workshops will continue to run every lunchtime and
after college on Wednesday in room 323. You can drop into these sessions
if you’d like someone to look at a piece of timed writing or have a query about
a topic or case study.
Revision session
We will be running a short programme of revision sessions in
the week before half term in May (last week of college for you). I should
stress that we won’t be able to cover much beyond last minute exam tips during
these sessions as they are limited to 1 hour, and so don’t rely on these being
your main source of revision help!
1-2-1 help
If you would like some 1-2-1 help with something specific
then you can book in a half hour slot with me during the following times:
Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday afternoon, or Thursday afternoon. We can
work on exam technique, revision technique or the content of any of the units
that you are currently studying. Email me if you are interested in this rmorris@candi.ac.uk. Please give at
least 48 hours’ notice so that I can make sure I’m free!
Theory study groups
Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed by the amount of theory
that we are throwing at you? Are there parts of Althusser, Adorno or
subculture theory that doesn’t make sense? Or perhaps you would like to
help other students to better understand how to apply theory to their
production work and do revision at the same time? Theory Study Groups
is intended to provide time, space and help with getting your head around
theory. You will work in small groups on sharing your knowledge and
understanding, and will have the opportunity to get help from a teacher.
If you are interested in either helping with this or you feel that you would
benefit from joining the study group then contact me on rmorris@candi.ac.uk before Friday 4th
April so that I can organised the groups. These sessions will
start during the first week back after Easter holidays.
Candi Media Blogs
Don’t forget that the blogs that accompany Section 1a/1b and
Collective Identity are well stocked with materials to support your learning
and revision. Follow the links from www.candimedia.blogspot.com
I would strongly recommend that you commit to at least one
of these options, to give yourself the best chance of getting the grade that
you deserve in the exams.
Rebecca
